THE MEMORY OF THE WALLS

After a year of common reflections with our dearest co-conspirators of Zambia Belongings ( Lusaka, Zambia ) the blossoming of our imaginations takes the form of a program exploring family archives in relation to “ the home”, viewing these archives as semantic vessels of memory, exploring how they embody notions of transmission, ancestry, love, and transculturation. Across different temporalities, we will in collective discuss and explore how objects, furniture, photographs, and heirlooms narrate – in-depth –  the stories of our blood families and our chosen families.
This program offers the Afro-descendant community the opportunity to approach their home and all these components as living archives. In this way, it redefines the archive as something that breathes, evolves, and intimately shapes our ways of relating to the past and to each other.

The naming of this program carries the voice of  Guadeloupean and Cameroonian writer, Candice Zogo Mvoa
