SIANO
This program pays tribute to Martinican musician and pioneer Eugène Mona. “ Siano ” is one of Eugène Mona's most notable songs from his album “Blan Manjé” published in 1990 ; Siano was the nickname of his beloved Martiane Bizet. This timeless program is designed from an Afrocentric perspective, rooted in Caribbean traditions and ideologies with the intention to reject the politics of doudouism and to be detached from western educational methodologies.
Here, Caribbean sonorities are explored as a constellation.
In a collaborative effort with instrumentalists, poets, artists and thinkers, this experimental and itinerant program serves as an educational tool by conducting research-based experimentations with a socio-musical approach. In present society, these sonorities are entirely part of the Caribbean identity and convey a profound spirit of Mawonaj (resistance) and Lyannaj (togetherness).
