an [ im ] material space rooted in Wanakaera [MARTINIQUE] functioning as an artistic and cultural research lab engaging togetherness and liberatory pedagogy

PNEUMATOPHORE

Pneumatophore is a platform dedicated to the free circulation of collective knowledge. Drawing from the figure of the Pneumatophores found in mangrove ecosystems — those aerial roots that rise above water to allow the trees to breathe—this platform functions as a porous, living archive,
enabling knowledge and rooted thinking to surface, cross
and circulate beyond dominant epistemological constraints.

Just as Pneumatophores ensure the survival of mangroves in submerged and shifting environments, Pneumatophores emerges as a countercurrent to western educational hegemony, offering a space where (im) material archives and educational resources take root, create ties and expand through collective contributions. It fosters an organic exchange of thinking that resists rigid, classist, racist and hegemonic western and institutional frameworks, embracing instead the fluidity of oral, visual, sonic, tangible and material cultures of our communities.

This platform belongs to you and we encourage your contributions and active engagement in this expanding ecosystem. To ensure alignment, safety and care, all submitted proposals are reviewed by Deanna Nelson-Mckie prior to their implementation into the platform. Plus, we prioritize knowledge contents and submissions from BIPOC individuals.
